Neptune has the fastest winds in the Solar System: 2,100 km/h

Neptune has the fastest winds in the Solar System: 2,100 km/h

Paradoxically, the planet farthest from the Sun has more violent winds than any other. While Earth hurricanes rarely exceed 300 km/h, Neptune has supersonic winds of 2,100 km/h! Scientists don't fully understand where this energy comes from, since Neptune receives very little solar heat. The planet's internal heat, releasing energy from gravitational contraction since its formation, might be the explanation.
